Lightkeepers has supported the Caribbean Environment Program (CEP) under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as a consultant and species expert, supporting the implementation of the Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife Protocol (SPAW) of the Cartagena Convention—the only legally binding biodiversity instrument in the Region.
In this capacity, Lightkeepers has advanced marine mammal conservation through support for the development of the regional Marine Mammal Action Plan (MMAP) and other initiatives, including the development of collaborative networks such CARI’MAM and CAR-WEN (Caribbean Wildlife Enforcement Network).
